Viscount Lord High Admiral '''Sophocles "Sooty" Macshearwater''' was an officer in the Royal Navy from 1790 to 1878.  He started his naval career as a cabin boy at age 6.  He quickly rose through the ranks, and gained his own command (the [[HMS Fiery Gizzard]]) at age 9.  During his long career, he fought in 6 wars, captured or sunk 279 ships of the line, and personally killed 52 Frenchmen in hand to hand combat.  During all that time, he never spent more than 5 consecutive minutes on land.  He is buried in Westminster Abbey.

Viscount Lord High Admiral Laird Sophocles "Sooty" Macshearwater was an officer in the Royal Navy from 1790 to 1878. He started his naval career as a cabin boy at age 6.
