A Laird is the title for a high officer in the Bacliff Exploration Society. There are at least six Lairds, each holding responsibility over a particular domain.
The offices of Laird rotate randomly among the members of the society (3rd degree or higher) at random times. So, at any given moment, it is difficult to know precisely who holds what office.
