Matlab is programming crack for engineers. It encourages sloppy, poorly written code with no heed to memory management, and runs about as fast as an 80-year old snail. Many engineers would like to use a real programming language, but Matlab has become an engineering standard. Most of them don't realize that Fortran 2008 has a similar syntax and runs 10,000 times faster.
