Pancake Brinner
Pancake Brinner is the one of the most glorious events on the Bacliff Exploration Society's yearly calendar. It is when the society gathers in midwinter to indulge in the feast of pancakes for brinner. It is somewhat loosely related to an obscure holiday called Shrove Tuesday.
Menu

History
2011
The initial event was held on March 2nd of 2011 at the IHOP on NASA Road 1. This was both a complete success and an utter failure at the same time. The actual pancakes were fantastic, but sides and other meals were of questionable to horrid quality. Because the location was not ideal for the 2011 inaugural Pancake Brinner the Society began looking into alternative meeting places for future brinners.
2012
In 2012, in spite of everyone's better judgement, the Society convened at a different IHOP on Marina Bay Drive. The future of the event remains in doubt after this experience. It was decided that if the event were to continue it would have to be held at a location other than IHOP. One possibility is to have it at a member's home. The advantage of this is the ability to include custom gourmet pancakes on the menu such as apple cinnamon, cinnamon chip, piña colada, white chocolate chip macadamia nuts, and blueberry flavored pancakes
2013
In 2013 Pancake Brinner did move to a home (sponsored by the ESOB) - and the first annual pancake brinner races were held in celebration. More than 60 years ago a priest in Liberal, Kansas noticed the women of Olney, England participated in pancake races to celebrate Shrove Tuesday. Since then, no other groups have competed against the women of Liberal, Kansas or Olney, England until the Exploration Society of Bacliff decided to host their own pancake races. This year 'crazy' won the ultimate grand champion pancake brinner races.
2014
In 2014, Pancake Brinner was held at another member's home, and the grand tradition of the pancake race was continued. Many delicious foods were made and consumed at this event, including cinnamon rolls, bacon, crepes, delicious banana-stuffed brioche French toast, quiche, and dragon fruit. Last year's pancake race winner passed the vegan cookbook trophy to this year's winner in a moving ceremony.
Notes
- Pancake Brinner should not be confused with Cowboy breakfast.
