Bagpipes were first invented as an aid to help Celts quit smoking. Bagpipes were then embraced as a portable acoustic non-lethal crowd control apparatus. Use was limited since it only seemed to work on the English. In recent years further development of this promising technology has waned, largely due to the widespread use of Nicorette gum and the song What Does the Fox Say. The last reported use of Bagpipes was at Spock's funeral.
