A Death Ray is a device that sends out a beam of deatharons in the hopes of causing death and destruction to all in its path. They require enormous amounts of power, 3 or 4 times the amount of energy output by the human Sun over 100 years. Thus, are very rarely used in galactic warfare.
They were invented by an unknown engineer while trying to invent an cheap substitute for haggis.
A death ray possessed by the Earthen colonists was key factor in bringing the Nebula Crisis to a climax.
